What's New for
the Subaru Legacy in 2023?
Having just introduced its seventh generation in
2020, the Subaru Legacy continues to follow in the trajectory set by last
year's model, with a comfortable interior, high-quality materials, and more. For
2023, the first three trims in the lineup get a minor shakeup in their features
and amenities, but, otherwise, this year's model is familiar for fans who have
come to know and appreciate the Legacy.
Design
A spacious, four-door car that seats five
people, the Subaru Legacy is designed with the classic lines and traditional
style of a sedan with a rear trunk for cargo. As a high-end Subaru model, it's
also eye-catching and has an aesthetic that makes it perfect for commutes or
weekend road trips.
While the interior provides ample headroom and
legroom to keep you and your passengers happy, with nearly 40 inches of legroom
in the backseat alone, the exterior provides access to a cavernous and useful
trunk for all your cargo. This secure, locking cargo storage solution holds
more than 15 cubic feet and, thanks to backseats that fold in a 60 / 40 split
configuration, can easily be more versatile and accommodate even more gear when
needed.
Trims
For 2023, Portland and Scarborough drivers have
a variety of options available to them when it comes to personalizing the
Legacy sedan. Subaru makes this model available in six trim levels, with two
different engines available depending on your preference. The complete lineup
includes:
- 2023 Subaru Legacy base
model
- 2023 Subaru Legacy Premium
- 2023 Subaru Legacy Sport
- 2023 Subaru Legacy Limited
- 2023 Subaru Legacy Limited XT
- 2023 Subaru Legacy Touring
XT
Performance
As mentioned, depending on which of the above
trims you go for, there are two responsive powertrains available for the 2023 Subaru Legacy. Regardless of trim or engine, however, you can expect the
reliability, power, handling, and, of course, all-wheel drive system, that the
Subaru brand name is renowned for.
The first engine available is a 2.5-liter
four-cylinder powertrain. It produces 182 horsepower with 176 pound-feet of
torque, and it comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission. This
base powertrain is the standard equipment for the first four trims in the
lineup, the Legacy base, Legacy Premium, Legacy Sport, and Legacy
Limited.
The "XT" code in the final two trim
levels' names indicates a more-powerful engine. These two options, the Legacy
Limited XT and Legacy Touring XT, get their power from a turbocharged 2.4-liter
four-cylinder engine and they produce a robust 260 horsepower and 277
pound-feet of torque.
Technology and Safety
Whether you're in Saco or Westbrook, and
regardless of which trim and engine you prefer, the comprehensive menu of
safety and tech features on the Subaru Legacy is bound to impress. Subaru pays
keen attention to every detail, and that's obvious when you explore the Legacy
sedan's complete list of amenities.
Many of these features are standard, such as
smartphone integration, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation,
and USB connectivity. But many others are also available here, allowing plenty
of opportunities to personalize your ride and get the bells and whistles you
really want.
