Different, Yet Alike
The four SUVs produced by Subaru have some differences, which we'll get to, but they have a lot in common, too.
The Ascent, Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback all features Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and the assurance of X-MODE. For the slush and ice frequently encountered in southern Maine, X-MODE is a wonderful feature.
- Engine Throttle: In X-MODE, the throttle doesn't open too quickly, and X-Mode employs settings to deliver torque as needed in slippery conditions.
- Transmission: X-Mode keeps transmission in a lower gear to deliver more engine power.
- All Wheel Drive: X-MODE raises the front/rear coupling force, which evenly distributes power between the wheels, maximizing traction.
- Vehicle Dynamics Control System: With this system, in X-MODE, braking is applied only to the wheels that are slipping, resulting in better control.
- Hill Descent Control: This helps maintain a lower speed for safer maneuvering when traveling downhill; X-MODE manages throttle and braking.

Safety for All
Each and every one of the four is also loaded with safety features, including standard EyeSight driver assistant technology, and a suite of airbags.
Of course, every SUV is backed by the assurance of a Subaru warranty, as well as the durability Subaru is known for: 97 percent of Subaru vehicles sold in the last 10 years are still on the road.
An SUV for Every Need
No matter your needs, Subaru has an SUV for you.

Everyday Ease: The Forester
Combining the needs of passengers and cargo, the Forester is an excellent choice as a step-up from the world of sedans.
With 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, the Forester has a roomy interior for up to five passengers, perfect for riding around Scarborough. Yet it still has 76.1 cubic feet of cargo space, with an extra-wide rear gate opening to make loading and unloading easier.
The Forester starts at $24,795.

Perfect Balance: The Crosstrek
Sitting between a compact and a full-size SUV, the crossover Crosstrek is ready to fit in anywhere.
Roomy for five passengers, the Crosstrek still has 55.3 cubic feet of cargo room, with more available by lowering the lie-flat rear seats. Its short profile and rear-view camera make it easy to park, even in Portland.
The Crosstrek starts at $22,245.

Serious SUV: The Outback
If you need a traditional full-size SUV, the Outback will do you fine.
The Outback can carry up to 75.7 cubic feet of cargo space, if you fold the rear seats down; so don't be shy at your favorite stores in Yarmouth. Make it easier to load by upgrading to a hands-free rear gate.
The Outback starts at $26,795.

Real Size: The Ascent
If you have a big family, or frequently volunteer for the carpool, you can carry up to eight in the three-row Ascent, the largest Subaru ever built. With an impressive 153.5 of passenger volume, it's a roomy ride, too.
Despite its size, the Ascent still gets an EPA-estimated 27 miles per gallon, good enough for multiple trips between Windham and Westbrook.
The Ascent starts at $32,295.
Let Us Help You Decide
